E-cigs are Changing the Tabacco Industry

Electronic cigarettes are safer, non-toxic form of smoking. The nicotine is delivered to the smoker in a puff of flavored air vapor. A battery is used to heat the glycerin based liquid into a mist the smoker draws through the cigarette base.

There are three components to all e-cig types; the battery, atomizer and the cartridge. The cartridge can also be used as a reservoir to hold the liquid to be vaporized. Once the battery is engaged the atomizer heats up and the liquid is turned to vapor. The smoker inhales and blows out a vapor that appears to be smoke.

They are designed to resemble a cigarette or a cigar but can also look like a pipe. They come in all colors and sizes. Some are white and have a brown “filter” tip while others are pink, silver, gold or black. Most are about the length of a normal cigarette or cigar but they also come in 100 lengths.

The liquid used in the vapor comes in myriad flavors. Candy apple, strawberry, cola, pina colada, Red Bull, Marlboro, Mountain Dew, and papaya are only a few of the flavors available. Many electronic cigarette stores are also “vapor shops” that mix their own custom flavors for e-cigs.

Electronic cigarettes are free of the harmful carcinogens of a tobacco cigarette such as tar. The American Association of Public Health Physicians stated that smokers cut the risk of tobacco related death by 99% by using a smokeless cigarette.
